| Who | Like the mighty Big Waters Federation, the Algonquin Longhouse is a long-time, well-organized Native American themed program. The Algonquin were formerly associated with Buchler YMCA in Palatine and in the spring of 2003 voted to maintain the rich history of the Indian Guides / Princess Program and left to become a member of the National Longhouse, Native Sons and Daughters Program. Our population is still centered on Palatine and its surrounding suburbs, but we also have membership that reaches out into Rockford, McHenry, and Northern Lake County.
Starting the season of 04/05 we will have thirteen Daughters and Sons Nations, plus a Trailmates / Trailblazers Program, and a Papoose Nation all included with membership in excess of 2500 people. We are proud of the relationship with the Big Waters Federation and look forward to working together wherever it would benefit the programs. |
