What is the walkathon? The walkathon event is a 2-mile walk around Chevy Chase Golf Course in Wheeling Illinois, on Saturday April 14th, 2007 starting at 11:00 AM.
Where is the walkathon event? North on Milwaukee Ave, North of Lake Cook Road.
What is the plan in the case of rain? No Rain Date has been planned.
What is the final result? The walkathon earns money that helps the Big Waters Federation continue to organize, fund, or supplement its parent-child programs.
Why should I participate? By participating, you will be directly contributing to your own parent-child relationship(s), and indirectly contributing through the Big Waters Federation to many other parent-child relationships.
Who can participate? Only Big Waters Federation members can participate in walkathon activities. Parents must accompany the children. Children can invite friends to the walkathon event.
How is participation confirmed? Begin by visiting the walkathon registration page of this WEB site before March 17th, 2007. Please provide information about yourself including name and T-shirt sizes, then receive a walkathon ID number. Next visit the walkathon forms page of this WEB site, and download a complete package of information and instructions.
What happens before the walkathon event? Participants are expected to contact people and request they pledge money.

Participants are expected to contact the Big Waters Federation office before they contact corporations to request they pledge money or products. Telephone 847-296-4718. Email bigwaters@sbcglobal.net. Communication with our corporate neighbors is currently manually coordinated to prevent duplicate requests. When communication is approved, 2 forms will be supplied to you by Email (or you can visit the BWF office). An individually addressed memo that contains several descriptions, our telephone number, and our WEB URL. A donation form that contains several blank fields, and our TAX exemption ID number.

Participants must convert all collections into a check payable to Big Waters Federation.

What happens during the walkathon event? Participants are encouraged to wear tribal vests. Follow directions to Chevy Chase, and arrive at a time corresponding to their nation/tribe combination. Arrival is staggered. When this information becomes available it will be posted here.

Deliver walkathon materials and pick-up previously reserved T-shirts from the walkathon check-in. Walk in groups along the 2-mile path that circles Chevy Chase Golf Course.

What happens after the walkathon event? All participants will receive a walkathon 2007 patch. Participants that have earned prizes may collect them at this time. There will be sufficient space for groups that wish to organize a picnic lunch.
How do I win a prize? 2 young men and 2 young ladies, that have accumulated and delivered the most (corporate/non-corporate) money (prior to walking), can choose Ipod shuffles and the 2nd place boy or girl that have accumulated and delivered the most (corporate/non-corporate) money (prior to walkng) can choose a mountian bike.
What about candy sale exemption? Participants that have accumulated and delivered $75 of Spring 2007 Walkathon money will be exempt from participating in the Fall 2007 candy sale. Each additional $100 of Spring 2007 Walkathon money, earns a free campout certificate (unlimited quantity). All free campout certificates must be used during the 2007 - 2008 program year. Big Waters Federation membership materials (received via US Mail) will contain individualized information.
Why should others pledge money? Pledging money provides the gift of friendship between people of the Northwest Chicago Suburban community.
What is the Big Waters Federation? The Big Waters Federation is one of many similar non-profit parent-child organizations in the USA that originated from a historical friendship between Native American Indians and colonial settlers. The present day existence of these parent-child programs, proves how successful they are in developing lifelong human relationships, and providing critical parental guidance to developing young minds.
